APAC Is Second Fastest Growing Market In Global Amusement Industry

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 (Bernama) -- The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), the global association for the attractions industry, is set to host the eagerly anticipated IAAPA Expo Asia 2024 from May 27 to 30 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

The amusement industry, one of the hardest hit by COVID lockdowns, border closures and restrictions, has made a strong comeback from the pandemic, recapturing an impressive 98 per cent of spending lost in 2020.

Global total spending for the industry is projected to reach nearly US$58.7 billion by end of 2024, while the Asia Pacific (APAC) amusement market is projected to increase by 67 per cent, second only to the Middle East in growth, signifying huge potential for innovation and profitability. (US$1=RM4.71)

IAAPA Expo Asia Pacific Executive Director and Vice President, Jack Chan said a primary factor contributing to the enduring popularity and growth is the universal appeal of entertainment and recreation activities.

“Amusement and theme parks are a cultural phenomenon that not only provide entertainment to millions, but also contribute significantly to the region’s and global economy,” he said.

“We live in an era where experiences are valued more than ever and consumers’ appetite and expectations for immersive entertainment are rapidly growing, so the task for industry players is to meet these challenges and stay ahead of the game – pardon the pun,” he said.

The three-day international extravaganza will see the global amusement industry converge to learn about the latest innovations and trends, as well as take a sneak peek into its exciting future, in addition to showcasing the newest technological advancements in the attractions industry from more than 300 exhibitors, according to a statement.

This year's theme, ‘Shape your evolution’ reflects the focus on education and growth. Industry experts and specialists will share insights and strategies to help attendees elevate their businesses.

Some prevailing trends and solutions which will be presented at the expo include the rise in 5D multisensory attractions that combine sight, sound, touch and even smell; innovative approaches to improving environmental impact and sustainability; demand for personalisation of guest experiences; and state-of-the-art safety and crowd/queue management technologies.

The jam-packed IAAPA Expo Asia 2024 programme also features a stellar line-up of key speakers from leading parks and entertainment venues, such as Shanghai Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, Universal Beijing Resort, Enchanted Kingdom (Philippines), Dreamworld (Australia), Studio City Macau and Ramayana Water Park.

TRAPEZE GROUP CLOUD-BASED TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE SINGAPORE'S LTA OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCIES

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) is set to leverage future public transport services through cloud-based Bus Fleet Management System (BFMS) implemented by the Trapeze Group-ST Engineering consortium.

Under the new agreement, the consortium is due to transition to the next-generation franchising solution, in which Trapeze’s latest fleet management software and in-vehicle hardware enables LTA and their operators to continue delivering connected and reliable journeys for Singapore’s residents and tourists.

Trapeze Group ASEAN Managing Director, Frank Hesse said Trapeze’s experience as the established Intelligent Transport System (ITS) technology provider to LTA can streamline the BFMS implementation.

“I am delighted LTA can continue its long-term relationship with the Trapeze Group-ST Engineering consortium, which powers outstanding public transport experiences for people living in or visiting Singapore.

“Trapeze is proud of the high-level service and expertise we have provided to LTA over the past decade and I look forward to reaching new heights together in the years to come as we help LTA Singapore deliver its 2040 vision,” he said in a statement.

Trapeze’s ITS is the core component of LTA’s BFMS, built upon a real-time cloud-based software architecture with open application programming interface (API)’s and a new WebGUI front-end. By transferring LTA’s system to the Government Commercial Cloud, the Trapeze solution can improve the productivity of bus service controllers while keeping a high level of cybersecurity.

The new Trapeze system uses enhanced analytic functionalities to continuously optimise models and produce even more accurate bus arrival-time predictions. Trapeze’s Business Intelligence solution also enables business users to create reports on key outcomes in a more flexible and dynamic manner.

The solution also supports Singapore’s current electric vehicle (EV) bus fleet rollout with monitoring of EV assets through seamless integration with on-board technology and the charging infrastructure platform.

The consortium successfully implemented a Centralised Fleet Management System that has supported Singapore’s bus fleet since 2014 and currently oversees about 5,800 buses across four public transport operators.

YAMATO HOLDINGS CO., LTD. LAUNCHES INTERNATIONAL MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT SERVICE BY TRUCK AND RAIL CONNECTING SOUTHEAST ASIA AND EUROPE ON MAY 1, 2024

AsiaNet 0200130

TOKYO, May 2, 2024 /Kyodo JBN/ --

- Supporting Establishment of Resilient Global Supply Chains in Response to Geopolitical Risks -

Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd., headquartered in Tokyo, launched an international multimodal transport service by truck and rail connecting Southeast Asia and Europe on May 1, 2024.

Logo: https://cdn.kyodonewsprwire.jp/prwfile/release/M106587/202404249931/_prw_PI1fl_17kUqzDz.jpg

1. Background and Purpose
The Southeast Asian region is a hub for production facilities of electronics-related products and automotive components from various countries worldwide. Finished goods are shipped from the region to markets across the globe. Historically, the shortest maritime route -- the Suez Canal route -- has been predominantly used for transporting goods from Southeast Asia to the European market. However, since late 2023, armed attacks on vessels by militant groups in the Red Sea and its adjacent waters have continued. As a result, many ships have been forced to take a longer route around the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, significantly impacting global logistics and economies. The transit time to the destination has been extended by up to 20 days compared to the Suez Canal route, leading to substantial increases in maritime freight rates and insurance costs due to the detour. Additionally, geopolitical risks have become more pronounced, emphasizing the critical need for establishing a robust global supply chain that can swiftly adapt.

Yamato Holdings has helped customers build their global supply chains across 24 countries and regions. Furthermore, its group company, Overland Total Logistic Services (M) Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia has been providing cross-border truck transport services utilizing container trailers between Southeast Asian countries (*) and China since 2001.

To build a resilient global supply chain between Southeast Asia and Europe, Yamato Holdings introduced an international multimodal transport service by truck and rail on May 1, 2024. The new transportation option offers seamless connectivity for the customers.

Moving forward, the company will continue to propose solutions that optimize the customers' entire global supply chains, aiming for total logistics cost reduction, production efficiency improvement, and environmental impact reduction.
(*) Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia

2. Service Overview
By utilizing Overland Total Logistic Services' truck transport network for the Southeast Asia-China segment and partnering with rail service providers for the China-Europe segment, Yamato Holdings will provide seamless transportation through the delivery destinations. This solution has shorter transit times than maritime transport via the Cape of Good Hope, and lower cost and less greenhouse gas emissions than air transport.

Service Flow Example: International Multimodal Transport from Thailand to Germany

- Service Commencement Date: May 1, 2024
- Service Coverage Areas: Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia) to Europe (excluding Ukraine and Belarus) up to the specified delivery destinations.
- Transportation Methods: Container leasing or consolidated shipments based on cargo volume.
