MITI Expects Participation Of Bumi Firms In Halal Industry To Increase 40-60 Per Cent

SERDANG, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) expects the participation of Bumiputera companies in the halal industry to increase by between 40 and 60 per cent in the next five years.

Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Ahmad Maslan, said of the 6,548 firms involved in halal industry last year, Bumiputeras only accounted for 30 per cent and non-Bumiputeras 70 per cent.
