NIPPON EXPRESS (CHINA) NEW LOGISTICS LOCATIONS IN JIASHAN, HANGZHOU, CHANGSHU OPENED

KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) -- Nippon Express (China) Co Ltd (NE China), a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co Ltd has opened and begun operations at new logistics locations in Jiashan, Hangzhou and Changshu in the Yangtze River Delta.

As part of China's national strategy, integrated development has been pursued in the Yangtze River Delta, comprising 16 cities in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in Shanghai, Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province.

EIG-led group secures US$12.4 billion infrastructure deal with Aramco

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 -- EIG, one of the world’s leading infrastructure investors, has announced the closing of its previously-announced transaction with Saudi Arabian Oil Co (Aramco), under which a consortium of investors acquired a 49 per cent equity stake in Aramco Oil Pipelines Company (Aramco Oil Pipelines).

Aramco Oil Pipelines, a newly-formed entity with rights to 25 years of tariff payments for oil transported through Aramco’s stabilised crude oil pipeline network.

The EIG-led co-investment process in Aramco Oil Pipelines attracted a global group of leading institutional investors from China, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Korea, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

They include, amongst others, Mubadala Investment Company, an Abu Dhabi Sovereign Investor, Silk Road Fund, Hassana and Samsung Asset Management.

NEW PRE-FEASIBILITY STUDY LOOKING TO PROGRESS CO2 CAPTURE

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 (Bernama) -- Amplifying the impact of emission reductions through carbon capture and storage (CCS) is the focus of a new pre-feasibility study exploring the potential application of carbon dioxide (CO2) capture on 750-megawatt coal-fired power plants.

This project is part of a broad study examining the viability of a regional commercial-scale geologic CO2 storage hub in the Southeastern US, according to a statement.

The International CCS Knowledge Centre (Knowledge Centre) is collaborating with an international team on the US Department of Energy (DOE)-funded project to develop the conceptual designs and capital cost estimates evaluating the installation of post combustion carbon dioxide (CO2) capture on a Southern Company electrical generating station.

The project would represent a significant scale-up and is a natural progression in the maturation of carbon capture technology.

By bringing leadership, vision and experience based on its substantive learnings from both the fully integrated Boundary Dam 3 CCS Facility and its comprehensive second-generation CCS study (Shand CCS Feasibility Study), the Knowledge Centre is performing the carbon capture pre-feasibility study of the scenario.

This study is being conducted through a cooperative agreement with the project manager, Southern States Energy Board, and a team that includes Southern Company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, and Stantec Consulting Ltd.

The pre-feasibility study will look at carbon capture design and cost. It will include details such as an analysis on steam integration options between the generating unit and the capture plant, as well as the identification of potential impacts of the new processes on existing plant environmental permitting.

The theoretical installation of carbon capture systems at power plants would not only ensure reliable baseload electricity, it would preserve the value of the existing facility, while also actively making significant strides in reducing anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions.

NIPPON EXPRESS BELGIUM UNVEILS SERVICE USING LIEGE, OSTEND AIRPORTS

KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 (Bernama) -- Nippon Express (Belgium) NV/SA (NE Belgium), has teamed up with Nippon Express Europe GmbH to launch a new service using Liege Airport and Ostend-Bruges International Airport to bolster import/export gateway functions in Europe.

Liege Airport in eastern Belgium serves as one of Europe's dedicated cargo airports, currently offering regular and charter flights to and from China, North America, the Middle East and Africa.

NE Belgium, a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co Ltd is the first Japanese forwarder to set up operations in the Liege area, and has opened an office in the airport cargo zone to provide CFS functions. 

The company is now engaged in air cargo import/export operations using the round-trip charter transport service between Liege and Narita airports launched on April 16, according to a statement.

In response to rising demand for trans-Atlantic air cargo transport, a round-trip charter service between Ostend-Bruges International Airport in western Belgium and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport was introduced on May 8.

NE Belgium has signed a weekly charter agreement with Qatar Airways Cargo to utilise its B777-300 ER mini freighter for round-trip cargo services.

All incidental services from departure to arrival are carried out by Nippon Express, which also provides collection/delivery in surrounding areas.

Taking advantage of Belgium's strategic location at the heart of European logistics, cargo from not only Belgium but from neighbouring countries such as the Netherlands and France as well, can be loaded at this gateway.
